I let go of the past. I live in the present moment and I can feel the Power and Presence within me. ~ Affirmation for Living in the Now
Letting go and living in the present moment is often very difficult. The mind is preconditioned by the past and analyses and judges everything through the eyes of the past.
Understanding that we are not the mind is one of the most important steps in dis-identifying ourselves from the mind.
A lot of people identify themselves with their minds, thinking they are the mind without even realising it.
I can assure you, you are so much more than ‘just your mind’. Your consciousness and inner presence are much greater and who you really are.
Your mind is certainly an amazing tool and we need it to live our daily lives, and we should ‘use’ our minds for tasks, accomplishing goals, creating things, but we need to realise that we are not our mind.
“Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger.” ~ Eckhart Tolle
Isn’t this beautiful? The fact knowing this and then consciously being able to work with this – becoming the watcher of our thoughts and allowing the light of our consciousness to grow stronger, is truly beautiful in my eyes.
Meditation can help us to dis-identify from our minds and help us to widen and grow the gap between our thoughts.
J. Kleykamp beautifully quoted, “In the beginning you will fall into the gaps in between thoughts – after practising [meditation] for years, you become the gap.”
Have you tried watching your thoughts, the light of your consciousness growing and being in the present moment?
If there was only one book you would read, I would greatly encourage you to read this one. It is more than a book. It is a guide to spiritual enlightenment.
